Privacy
What we store, and why.
Plain language, no dark patterns. This page explains what Birdfeet keeps when you use it, and what you can remove yourself.
What we collect
- Account details: the email address you sign up with, and a securely hashed password. We never see your password.
- Profile details: your handle, display name and bio if you add one.
- What you publish: posts, replies, likes, follows and group memberships, plus when they were created.
- Basic technical data: whatever is needed to keep you signed in and to keep the service working.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show third-party adverts or ad trackers.
- We do not read your posts to build an advertising profile.
- We do not create accounts, posts or groups on your behalf.
Who can see your content
Posts in the main feed and inside groups are visible to anyone who can open Birdfeet, including guests who are not signed in. Treat everything you post as public.
Your email address is never shown on your profile and is only used for signing in and for password reset codes.
Keeping and deleting data
Your posts and replies stay until you delete them. Deleting your account removes your posts, replies, likes, follows and group memberships. Delete any groups you own first, as those carry other people’s posts too.
Password reset codes expire shortly after they are sent and are never shown in the app.
Third parties
Birdfeet runs on managed infrastructure for hosting, the database and sign-in emails. Those providers process data on our behalf to make the app work, and nothing more.
